I was dropped off at the mall. I went to B. Dalton, which is in the mall and I have a discount card there, but they didn't have it. So I said "I'll walk to Borders". Which was a mile and a half away. In the dark and the freezing cold. So I get there, and there's one copy of the book left and someone is looking at it. I glared at them and stared at the book for a long time (and was fully prepared to fight them for it) when they put it down carefully and I snatched it and checked out.
So then I walked back to the mall, again a mile and a half in the freezing cold, and was holding the door open for a guy who apparently decided that a psuedo-bohemian tranny isn't something he wants his kids exposed to, because he glared at me, practically punched me in the stomach, and opened the door next to me and hurried his kids out.
And then my cellphone broke, and the cellphone people told me I was SOL until Monday, and then I'd have to take it across town to their regional headquarters. So I had to find a working payphone (act of congress) to call for a ride home, and sit out in the cold for an hour because my ride was on the other side of the mall instead of where I told him to pick me up (exactly where he dropped me off).
And you know, it's not like I'm going to be reading it any time soon. I have three books ahead of it on my reading list (although I'm almost finished with one). I mostly got it on principle.
And yes, I am going to Tekkoshocon. Thank the fates that smiled on me, a delay in my Broadway trip, and deuceloosely. And sorry (only not really) to the people who were really hoping I wouldn't be there. I am going to be spending most of my time in Artist Alley doing aura readings. Feel free to exploit the "I know Goo and once gave him money and now I'm going to park here until he pays me back" discount.
