Grrr determined!
Lately I have been on a quest to watch all of the shows that I loved when I was a wee Goo (defined as between the ages of about six and ten, apparently) and see if they still hold up now that I'm an adult. Blame Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide (a show very much like Golden Era Nickelodeon shows) for bringing Mark Weiner as a guest star and sending me into paroxysms of nerdy joy with recall of Weinerville.

So far, watching Are You Afraid of the Dark?, it actually has stood the test of time very well (well, except for the absolutely atrocious acting that gets better as the show goes on). It got away with a lot of things that would never fly on Nickelodeon today, but what do you expect with the kids' answer to Tales from the Crypt?

However, my ultimate goal, the thing I will not die until I manage to accomplish it, that I have been stonewalled in my every attempt to succeed, is to see all of Space Cases again. Maybe me not being able to find it is the universe's way of telling me not to watch it and ruin one of my fondest childhood memories, but come on! The show starred George Takai and Mark Hammill! It fucking rocked! And Firefly fans, as an added incentive to keep your eyes peeled for it for me, the show starred a then-thirteen year old Jewel Saite in her first starring role.

Last I checked there were at least a couple Space Cases eps on Youtube. Not the whole series, though, sadly.

I found those, but when you click to watch, it says the user was suspended for copyright violation.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? actually used to scare me. :(

One of my friends has been on the hunt for Space Cases (because of Jewel, ha). I'll let you know if anything turns up...

Where do you find "Are You Afraid of the Dark"?

IsoHunt. They only have the first five (original) seasons, but that's okay because after that the show started to bite big time.

I used to watch that AND love Jewel Saite.

Missed out on Takai and Hammil, though, but back then, I didn't know who they were …

Let me know if you find a way to watch it.

All right, you, that's it. I've seen you around LJ and been keeping an eye on you at ag_over_18, and this is the last straw. Anyone who remember Space Cases--AND that Jewel Staite was in it--gets their ass friended. Sound cool?

Sounds cool to me. ^_^ I'll friend you back. Incidentally, when I see your LJ name, I think of the synthetic gemstone they used to pedal all the time on the Home Shopping Network (which I was addicted to as a wee Goo).

Well, close. I was actually thinking of the naturally occurring variety, but it's the same basic principle. ;) They're some of my favorite gemstones. I'm impressed that you knew what they were!

Ah, I wasn't aware it occurred in nature. All the ones they sold were simulated, and to the best of my memory, they played it up like that's the only place where you can find it. Lying bastards. (Well, I was seven or eight when I watched HSN ~_~.) Anyway, friended you back.

I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark! There was only one of those episodes I ever saw twice. I watch Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide too, as well as Unfabulous and Zoey 101 once in awhile. My favorite oldies were Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Rugrats and Doug. Plus Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple and wild and Crazy Kids- ah how I miss Nickelodeon of the 1990s. (though I love their GaS channel since it has the old game shows-nastalgia!
