Hey Heroes Fans!
While looking around for Doctor Who figures (FYI, I highly recommend buying them here. Best shipping rates I have found by far if you live in the US), I happened to find these. The reviews on various toy rating sites say the quality is actually pretty shoddy, but I love Heroes, I love action figures, so I will probably get at least a few of them (probably only Peter in the first run). They don't seem to be out right now (I couldn't find a single online store with them), although Mezco's site claimed they were being released on 1/8/08 (actually, I should check the local comics shops to see if they have them/are going to have them).

I saw a Heroes novel about Hiro and Charlie at the UNF bookstore the other day. My brain made little grabby motions at it, but my arms were already filled with textbooks and my text voucher doesn't cover books from the popular fiction section of the store. :/

And then, I was at B&N and saw what appeared to be the first season's graphic novels in actual graphic novel form, with a binding and stuff. But it was like $40.

ETA: Little action figure Peter looks especially douchey, I think. But I'd like a little action figure Sylar.

When I saw the book, I wanted to get it, but just couldn't wrap my head around the $24 price tag. As for the figures, I am hoping to get to see them in person before I buy them (Spencer's carries Mezco stuff so they should have them when they're out). I admit Peter makes me rather sad from the poor quality, but it's still Peter. But if the price is something like $20, I'll somehow survive without it. (I need to get a bunch of Doctor Who figures, anyway.) Maybe my standards were lowered by the most recent wave of Doctor Who action figures, where the one character I was looking forward to coming out in action figure form was done really, really poorly and looks absolutely nothing like the actor. (It's sad that there's an "American exclusive" Ninth Doctor figure that does not look like ass, because the British version is so crappy. I'm hoping they do the same with this other character, though.)

$24? Geez! Good thing I didn't let my mental grabby-hands get the better of me. I could better use that getting a hair cut. Or getting my car's oil changed. Maybe it'll go to extreme sale in a month or three.

Also: $20 for the little figure? That's way expensive. :/ Especially for poor quality. I hope the Doctor Who ones are at least worth the money when they come out.

I am waiting to see if the Heroes book goes to paperback. even for a hardcover, that's steep, though. And the Doctor Who figures are about $10-$15 each, depending on how much they come with, which is pretty average for specialty collector figures like this, but Mezco has charged $20 or more for their Pirates of the Caribbean figures, and $20 for their current horror movie line. To be fair, they're about 9" tall (most action figures are 5" - 7", and I think they said the Heroes ones are 7", which would be more reasonable) and come with loads of extras.
