The Games Goo Plays
So last week, I finally broke down and bought used copies of the first two Phoenix Wright games. I have them all on my computer as ROMs because I'm a horrible person, but the games got their vengeance in that none but Apollo Justice will support my computer mic, so I am foiled again by Nintendo in my efforts to pirate games and finally had to do the right thing. Is wanting to play games for free that I have no intention of buying really too much to ask?! So anyway, now I have the first two Phoenix Wright games (my copy of the second is Japanese, but it has the English translation on it. The auction claimed it was patched, but I was informed by some helpful soul on Snopes that the Japanese versions of the first three games actually come with the English script as they're used as teaching tools in Japan. The Japanese are kinda awesome).

But I was on the very last level of the hardest difficulty of Elite Beat Agents, so I told myself I wouldn't play Phoenix Wright until I beat EBA. Sure enough, I play the game to get cracking on that, and beat the level that's kicked my ass for the past month in the first try. If that's not a sign it's time to move on, don't know what is. My friend came over shortly after I accomplished this minor miracle, so haven't actually started Phoenix Wright yet (con: have to replay stuff I've already seen before, some of it multiple times because I've been sending save files to other people, pro: I can do it all while screaming into the DS mic now!). Reminds me I need Phoenix Wright icons, though. (I keep meaning to find/make some and yet I never do.)

In non-game related news (well, until I make it so somehow), reminded myself of just how horrible Torchwood S1 was, especially under the harsh light of having just finished the far-superior S2, and then started Doctor Who S3 with my friends. Watched Runaway Bride, which is funny knowing how far Donna's come in S4, and then got through to the Shakespeare Code, which just makes me really, really miss Rose more. I thought I was in a capable place with that now, especially in light of recent spoilers, but guess I was wrong.

Also been watching Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. Never thought a show about crab fishing would be so interesting. And hey, it gives me a chance to say the word "crabs" in polite conversation. Watching a lot of Discovery in general lately. Don't know why. Also been rewatching Tales from the Crypt, which is downloaded because I bought the games I pirated, I can't be a fucking saint all the time. It's still good today! Love it when a beloved show from my childhood still holds up under the harsh glare of my cynical adult self. And to round off "Goo is watching more TV than he's supposed to lately" portion of the post, also caught the new Supernatural and ER tonight. One of these things did not suck. Take a stab at which one it was. Hint: probably the one you're thinking.

Now to do things that may or may not be me playing Phoenix Wright (I honestly don't know yet. Can't decide if I'm tired and want to watch something to unwind or I'm awake enough to plug away at that a bit).

I adore Phoenix Wright. Which is incredibly amusing when you find out I do not own a DS or any sort of console that Phoenix Wright can be played on. I just adore it anyways.

Here you can download the emulator (no&gba is the one with mic support, just it's kinda pissy which mics it'll work with) and all four Phoenix Wright games.
